wmlbrowser. This emulator visualizes WAP pages in the Firefox navigator. It have the problem to show all the cards of the file in the same navigator page but although it difficults the visualization, the system runs correctly.

¿What is WAP?
WAP (WIRELESS APPLICATION PROTOCOL) is a protocol specification that allows to the mobile devices to use a wireless connection to access to information and services from Internet. The programming language used for this protocol is the version one of WML and is similar to the HTML for the WEB.

¿What are the WAP 1 features?
The protocols stack of WAP 1 is not compatible with the Internet protocols so it is necessary a bridge node who mediates between the WAP client and the content server at Internet. It is a simple set of protocols but with a little possibility of problems about compatibility and security. The language used for the contents is the WML.

¿What is WAP 2.0?
The version WAP 2.0 is supported by the new models of mobile devices and changes the version 1 by using for the pages of contents the XHTML-MP (XHTML Mobile Profile), a subset of the XHTML. The contents at WAP 2.0 are more similar to the WEB contents but for mobile devices. This protocol uses for the transport layer the TCP and for the application layer the HTTP. WAP 2.0 solves the security problems of WAP 1 and allows the use of a bridge node for improve the service although it is not necessary.

¿What is i-mode?
Is a group of protocols for software applications with a purpose similar to WAP. It allows the user to maintain a connection permanently and the user only need to pay for the data volume transmitted and not for the connection elapsed time. The language used for the pages is the compact HTML (cHTML->iHTML) and not the WML.
